Evan Nicole Bell is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer from Baltimore, Maryland. After going viral on X (formerly Twitter) for her cover of Albert King’s Crosscut Saw, Evan gained an international fanbase of music lovers for her zealous acoustic fingerpicking, “Hendrixian” electric guitar riffs, and sultry, soulful, mezzo-soprano voice.
Evan’s videos have been viewed over 8 million times across social media platforms, and her half-hour Public Radio Music Day live session was featured on the front page of NPR Music. An artist with a two-pronged vision for both sustaining the timeless blues repertoire and forging a distinct path forward, Evan transcends genre in her music, weaving a tapestry of blues, funk, pop, rock, soul, and R&B. A true multi-hyphenate, Evan is the sole songwriter (except on covers) and producer of her songs, playing every instrument except for the drums.
Evan’s debut EP, Runaway Girl, was released on January 11, 2024 to critical acclaim, charting at No. 31 on the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association (IBBA) Top 40 Most Played Albums Chart and at No. 34, No. 37, No. 71 and No. 73 on the iTunes Top 100 Albums Chart in Belgium, South Africa, Italy, and Brazil, respectively. Called “a name to remember” by Maxazine, Evan and her music touch souls across the globe—her songs are in rotation on 100+ radio stations throughout the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Hungary, Greece, Poland, Belgium, France, Spain, New Zealand, Japan, Australia, and the Netherlands.
Evan’s passion for music began with studying piano, fingerstyle acoustic, and classical guitar in her adolescence. However, it was in 2018, when her mother gifted her an electric guitar, that her passion for music and songwriting skyrocketed. Armed with her trusty new Les Paul (named Stormy), Evan immersed herself in the study of music theory, voice, guitar, and the blues—eventually leaving her job as an educator to pursue music full time.
Beyond her musical endeavors, Evan is an award-winning documentary photographer and has shown two solo exhibitions of her work. She has a B.A. from Duke University and a graduate certificate from the University of California, Berkeley Goldman School of Public Policy.
