Samantha Fish is an American blues singer-songwriter and guitarist. Fish grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and played drums before switching to guitar at age 15. Fish frequented the local saloon Knuckleheads to hear touring Blues artists. Upon turning 18, Smith often joined in with the singers and bands performing at the club. Fish is renowned for her incendiary live performances which have mesmerized audiences worldwide.

In 2009, Fish recorded and produced Live Bait. The concert album attracted the attention of a talent company who recommended her to Ruf Records. The record company put together an album with Fish and two other female vocalists, Cassie Taylor and Dani Wilde, titled Girls with Guitars. In 2011 the three guitarists toured Europe and America under the Blues Caravan moniker.

Fish also continued touring with the Samantha Fish Band, featuring “Go-Go Ray” Pollard on drums and Chris Alexander on bass. Fish’s 2011 album Runaway won the 2012 Blues Music Award for Best New Artist.

Fish appeared on Devon Allman’s 2013 album Turquoise in a duet covering the Tom Petty/Stevie Nicks song “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.” During the summer of 2013 Fish was called up on stage to play with a skeptical Buddy Guy who was so impressed with her guitar playing he told his audience he would be gladly play with her all night.

Samantha Fish’s third studio album, 2015’s Wild Heart marked a change in direction for the artist with a more roots rock sound than her previous blues rock albums. Fish wrote five of the album’s songs which were laced with various stringed instruments including mandolins and lap steel guitars.

Samantha Fish’s Kill or Be Kind dropped in August 2019. Boasting 11 original songs ranging from the electric cigar box stomp of “Bulletproof,” to the sweet Memphis R&B of “Trying Not To Fall in Love With You,” the album is sure to establish Fish as a potent force in roots music. Her new album Faster released Sept. 10, 2021.

New record, DeathWish Blues with Jesse Dayton is out now.

“The first-ever collaborative album from Samantha Fish and Jesse Dayton, Death Wish Blues is a body of work born from a shared passion for pushing the limits of blues music. As one of the most dynamic forces in the blues world today, Fish has made her name as a multi-award-winning festival headliner who captivates crowds with her explosive yet elegant guitar work, delivering an unbridled form of blues-rock that defies all genre boundaries. Dayton, meanwhile, boasts an extraordinary background that includes recording with the likes of Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings, touring as a guitarist for seminal punk band X, working with Rob Zombie on the soundtracks for his iconic horror films, and releasing a series of acclaimed solo albums. Produced by the legendary Jon Spencer of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Death Wish Blues ultimately melds their eclectic sensibilities into a batch of songs both emotionally potent and wildly combustible.”
