Silcrow, formerly Close To The Bone, are a 4 piece grunge / rock outfit from Auckland New Zealand who bring us a fusion of heavy grunge mixed with a rock kick that has influences of Incubus, Soundgarden & Alice In Chains pumping through it’s veins. The boys have been busy building a fanbase around the New Zealand rock scene and ready us for the delivery of their debut 7 track EP which drops on the 14th June, from that comes their blistering single “What I Am”

“What I Am” – A crisp clean guitar lick pours from the intro as a cool dark bass kick brings the rhythm section to our attention as this grungy monster rears it’s head. The soulful gravelly vocals ooze from the get go and really let this awesome beast come to life as the boys fire on all cylinders as this foot stomping monster comes for us, the groove is a real groove soaked affair that tells us that these boys are the real deal that comes armed with a sludgy tone that is real infectious for sure.

We get a delicious dark brooding bassline that wraps itself around this melodic rock n roll juggernaut that unfolds with epic guitar licks that really deliver a no nonsense groove that brings killer rhythm kicks to our attention as a solid snare drum beat lets this beast surround us with a real deep tone that builds and builds with every note that kicks in the doors and allows us to be part of this crunching 4 piece that really lays itself bare with a soul searching track that just wets our appetites for what these boys have in store with their blistering 7 track EP. Allow yourself to be immersed in this blistering track that peels back the layers to reveal a power packed 4 piece groove unit that just keeps on giving.
