Wuji is a Vancouver based tangled web of holy sound. The band was formed by the profoundly compatible musicians- Andrew Kashak along with his friends. Brian Maudsley, Tyler Dallas and Ryan MacCoul. They began in 2019 after Andrew recorded an EP with songs he wrote between 2014-2016. Andrew started playing the guitar when he was 12 after hearing Nirvana for the first time and became instantly compelled with grunge lullabies to connect with people.
As time went on his influences expanded from 90s alternative rock to psychedelic bands like Pink Floyd, Highly Suspect, NIN, Born of Osiris, Fuzz, Wavves and modern artists like Tame Impala. Andrew vulnerably fuses his life experiences and struggles through lyricism that is sprinkled with concepts from eastern philosophies.
After years of playing as a solo acoustic artist, Andrew decided to create a band to achieve the wall of sound he envisioned. Brian fills the role of percussion and helps Andrew with writing and revision. Tyler expresses that “Brian is the glue keeping the band together.” Tyler has heart collapsing pipes along with goosebump-inducing backup vocal harmonies. Ryan is a badass biker guy who keeps on keeping things groovy on the bass.
Wuji’s passion-infused music sparkles in the sea of modern music. Apathy. They seamlessly resurrect the punk rock grits meets the free-spirited nature of the band’s they are inspired by. Thor sound emulates a dairy free hopeful message that uplifts listeners. They are here to bring people out of the darkness and illuminate light all through a psychedelic rock and roll prism.
