The K-ZAP Short Tail – 93.3 says Good Morning…and Good-bye to Two Rock Greats
Yes, our terrestrial signal IS back as of this morning. Ten days ago, the secret room where the transmitter lives was ravaged by our history-making California storms. With heroic efforts from Bob, Mark and Mike, we have a broadcast signal again. Tune in –the station is sounding stellar.
Around the world, www.k-zap.org and the FREE apps were always up and running so that you could still hear the heartbeat of the best rock, blues and more ONLINE.
So for all our joy from the above news, we are needing to take stock once again. In those ten short days, we lost two of rock’s most legendary artists. Jeff Beck and David Crosby are pantheon in our beloved genre and legendary leaders in our baby boomer generation—then in our innocent youth, now, in our stoic aging. It is significant that both men were vibrant to the end, creating new music, exploring, writing, recording and touring. Both found younger players to mentor, to propel and to feed off of.
Beck, 78, was just here in Northern California at The Hard Rock Live on Nov. 10. Listen to him emote “A Day in the Life” from that show. https://youtu.be/olM1X9aKcpw
We’ve been playing tribute—we’ve got their music and we have the freedom to play rare, deep tracks as well as radio hits throughout our 24/7. Today on our weekly 5pm PST feature show, “Rush Hour Blues,” host Cale Wiggins plays tribute to Jeff Beck. Tune in. More will come on both Beck and Crosby.
For this “man of few words who spoke musical mountains” as Jeff Beck was (he rarely gave interviews or spoke words on stage,) David Crosby, 81, was his polar opposite—VERBAL, OPINIONATED, always at the ready to speak his mind –(and he always dared…and never cut his hair), he remained forthright and outspoken on social and political issues throughout his life. He made his personal life and soul completely available, not only through his ethereal, gorgeous voice and masterful harmonies, but just before the beginning of the pandemic, through this movie.
If you’ve not seen the award-winning, amazingly candid 2019 Cameron Crowe documentary, “Remember My Name” do it this weekend. The film is available on many platforms.

David Crosby cracked a joke about heaven a day before he died. Early Wednesday morning, the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash co-founder took to Twitter to joke about heaven.” “I heard the place is overrated….cloudy.”
Thanks for listening to us…PLAY THEIR MUSIC.
