On days of great meaning, days of unexpected tragedy, days of celebration—our hard-wired DNA burbles and twists up in our souls and make many of us tune into our local media for connection. I prefer radio because the perfectly chosen songs by smart radio folk cover me and take over responsibility, so that my constant hand-wringing and reaching for a glass are undeterred. I don’t have to type, dial or speak. I can listen and absorb.

*Credit where it is due… A pair of legendary old radio hosts (Clyde and Ned) who present their merriment and music weekly on KDRT in Davis, CA kicked off their show with a few of these songs, so I trashed what I was writing and felt better immediately. Absorb.
