Buzzcocks have left their mark on American punk, hardcore, and indie rock, influencing acts like Dead Kennedys guitarist East Bay Ray, Parquet Courts, Hüsker Dü, Superchunk, and Dag Nasty. The Smiths' Johnny Marr has credited the band with shaping his own group's approach, saying Buzzcocks influenced them "massively in the way we approached our record sleeves and our choice of independent record company — because of the Buzzcocks we took on a Mancunian DIY ethic."

Modern English are an English new wave post-punk rock band formed in 1979 in Colchester, Essex. They're best known for their songs "I Melt with You," "Hands Across the Sea," and "Ink and Paper." The group disbanded in 1987, reformed two years later, then split again in 1991. They reunited once more in 1995 and have continued on in various lineups ever since.

In October 2026, the band released an English-language cover of the Malaria! song "Kaltes Klares Wasser." The track appears exclusively on the compilation album "Wir Schweigen Nicht / We Will Not Be Silent," which benefits the White Rose foundation in Munich, Germany.
